The trident established a new atlantic record

Cadiz - San Salvador: average speed of 17,6 knots

Giovanni Soldini and his crew sailed 4632 nautical miles at an average speed of 17,6 knots.

‘I am really happy – said Soldini soon after crossing the finishing line – We have set an excellent time reference that will be hard to break. Such a shame that last night was really hectic. The keel’s hydraulic system had a problem, it stopped moving. We stayed all wide awake, sailing with the fixed keel in the middle, and obviously we were slower than before. Anyway we couldn’t expect any better. We have picked all the right weather strategies and I am very pleased with the boat’s and the team’s performace’

The VOR70 Maserati is sailing no-stop towards Charleston, South Carolina, where it will be overhauled. Giovanni Soldini and his team will then attempt to establish the speed record in 24hrs.
