Eric Clapton's Ferrari SP12 EC

A blank canvas waiting to be painted over, a score begging for perfect notes: a unique one-off car for Eric Clapton

A Ferrari enthusiast and musician of Eric Clapton’s stature deserves a unique car and that’s what we’ve given him.

Designed by the Ferrari Style Centre in collaboration with Pininfarina and Maranello’s own engineers, the SP12 EC was created as an homage to Clapton’s career and his long history as a Ferrari owner.
Over the years, the guitarist’s favourite model has been the Ferrari 512 BB, of which he’s owned no less than three examples.

What he wanted therefore was to be able to drive a car inspired by that very model but which also took the multi-award-winning 458 Italia as a reference point.
The result is the SP12 EC. This one-off project’s proportions and architecture have been reworked down to the tiniest detail both in terms of their styling and technology. Another plus for an already exceptional car created like a piece of music: note by note, until it all came together as perfect symphony of Ferrari achievement.

The English musician said that embarking on the project was like “being in front of a gigantic blank canvas that had to be painted on” and that being involved with the birth and development of the car was “an incredible experience, one of the most satisfying things I’ve ever done”. As unique and unrepeatable as the SP12 EC.
