Making of the Disco Volante Touring



The Disco Volante Touring is manufactured of a lightweight body: hand-beating aluminium panels are combined with the use of carbon fibre reinforced plastic (CFRP) as the result of a study conducted to define optimal use of materials for the bodywork in terms of weight, resistance, precision, finish and quality, and ease of repair in case of damage.

The Disco Volante is a two-seater Gran Turismo. It is based on the Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione coupé with its front-central mounted 4.7 litre V8 engine and a transaxle rear drive with unmodified specifications.

The Flying Saucer is back

The reborn milanese coach builder will present next march at the Geneva Motor Show, a new concept based on the 8C Competizione inspired and carrying the name of the legendary 1900 C52 "Disco Volante"(Flying Saucer) a true piece of automotive art, an icon for Alfa Romeo and the car industry.
